First ten songs inducted into new National Songbook

The first ten Australian songs have been inducted into the new National Songbook, following what Guardian Australia described as “very robust” judging. Yothu Yindi’s Treaty, Midnight Oil’s Beds Are Burning and Helen Reddy’s I Am Woman are among them. The initiative honours songs and songwriters who helped form the nation’s cultural identity, and the list will grow every year.
